How does CareFirst support my weight loss journey?

Step 1. Online or In-person Consultation: We facilitate connections between patients and healthcare professionals through virtual consultations, where weight loss goals, medical history, and other relevant factors are discussed.

Step 2. Personalized Plan: Following the consultations, CareFirst healthcare professionals create personalized weight loss plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, preferences, and lifestyle.

Step 3. Prescription Medication: If suitable, our medical providers can prescribe weight loss medications such as semaglutide or Tirzepatide.

Step 4. Ongoing Support: CareFirst offers continuous support and follow-up consultations with healthcare professionals to monitor progress, address concerns, and adjust the weight loss plan as necessary.

How much weight can I expect to lose with Tirzepatide?

Most patients in the trial were able to have a 5% weight loss while people who received 10 mg or 15 mg doses demonstrated 20% reduction in body weight.

In the SURPASS-2 trial, the active ingredient in Zepbound medication was found to be superior to semaglutide in regards to the mean change in the glycated hemoglobin level with the added effect of weight reduction.

Common Side Effects

  1. Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and abdominal pain are quite common, especially when starting the medication or after a dose increase.

  1. Reduced appetite: Many people experience a decrease in hunger, which can contribute to weight loss.

  1. Hypoglycemia: In some cases, especially when used with other glucose-lowering medications, tirzepatide can cause low blood sugar levels. Injection site reactions: Redness, itching, or swelling at the site of injection may occur.

  1. Fatigue: Some individuals might feel unusually tired.

It's important to monitor for these side effects and discuss any concerns with a healthcare provider, who can provide guidance on managing them or adjust the treatment plan if necessary.
